ARM has licensed the Imagination Technologies PowerVR MBX Lite 3D graphics IP core to Centrality Communications for use in next-generation GPS SoC products

Imagination Technologies and ARM have a long-term joint development agreement for the integration of PowerVR graphics cores alongside ARM microprocessor cores. Under the terms of the agreement, ARM markets and licenses the PowerVR graphics and video cores to its customer base, for use with ARM microprocessor families.

Says David McBrien, VP Business Development, Imagination Technologies: 'This collaboration enables Centrality, a world leader in GPS SoC with a reputation for innovation, to access the state of the art graphics capabilities of PowerVR MBX and the ARM architecture and deliver an advanced navigation experience to its customers'.

Says Rob Baxter, President and Chief Executive Officer, Centrality: 'We have already positioned our processor family as the most cost-effective silicon platform for high-functionality devices'.

'This partnership with Imagination Technologies will enable us to continue to fully leverage our silicon across a wealth of potential markets by including market leading graphics technology'.

Under the terms of its licensing arrangements Imagination Technologies receives licence fees and royalty revenues on SoCs incorporating Imagination Technologies' IP shipped by partners.
