Suite supports multimedia applications processor
Green Hills Software is supporting the release of the Freescale i.MX27 multimedia applications processor with a full range of support products
Green Hills Software has made its product suite available for the Freescale i.MX27 multimedia applications processor, including the Multi integrated development environment, micro-Velosity royalty-free real-time operating system, TimeMachine tool suite, Green Hills compilers and Green Hills Probe.
This new support enables customers to reduce their cost of software development and shorten the time to market for their cordless and mobile phones, healthcare equipment, intelligent remote controls, point-of-sale terminals and other products based on the i.MX27 processor.
'Green Hills Software is a core component of the Freescale ecosystem', says Aaron Shagrin, Director of Business Development, Freescale.
'This is proven with their portfolio expansion to include a comprehensive solution of tools and operating systems for our latest mobile multimedia processor, the i.MX27'.
'The collaboration between Green Hills and Freescale demonstrates our commitment to providing customers with the right solutions at the right time'.
At the Freescale annual technology forum in Orlando, Freescale's Wireless Developer Network recognised Green Hills Software as the Tools Partner of the Year.
Green Hills was honoured for demonstrating strong coverage for the i.MX family with its industry-recognised family of tool products including: Multi and TimeMachine environments, Integrity family of operating systems, and hardware probes.
Additionally, Freescale recognises Green Hills support of Freescale and its customers illustrated by technical expertise and flexibility that provides leading-edge tools solutions for the i.MX family.
The Green Hills portfolio for the i.MX27 processor comes from 25 years of experience providing development tools and RTOSs that make it easy for software developers to use the silicon's optimisations while reducing their time to market and improving the quality and security of code running in the end product.
'We are impressed with the performance, power, and multimedia capabilities of the i.MX27 processor', says Dan O'Dowd, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Green Hills Software.
'More embedded products rely on the combination of Freescale's processors and Green Hills' software for their success than any other solution'.
The i.MX27 processor was created in response to the needs of design engineers tasked with pushing the performance envelope, packing in a lot of connectivity options and providing robust security in mobile device designs.
Derived from the popular i.MX21 processor and based on the ARM926EJ-S core, the i.MX27 processor is the next step toward high-definition video in handhelds with the addition of an H.264 hardware codec for D1 high resolution video processing.
An Ethernet 10/100 MAC, security, USB plug-and-play connectivity, and more power management features make the i.MX27 processor an excellent choice for video and voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) cordless and mobile phones, intelligent remote controls, point-of-sale terminals and many other consumer, industrial and general purpose applications.
The Green Hills Software solution for the i.MX27 processor is available now. Request a free brochure from Green Hills Software....
