Elixent has won the 7th LSI IP Design Award in Japan, the first time that a non-Japanese company has won the accolade

The award was given for the company's reconfigurable processor technology, D-Fabrix, which reduces chip development costs by enabling the same device to be used for multiple applications. It was presented at the recent SoC/SiP Developers Conference in Tokyo. The award is sponsored by the LSI IP Design Award Committee and the Electric and Electronic Information Academic Promotion Foundation.

It was established in 1998 by leading Japanese semiconductor manufacturers Matsushita Electric Industrial, NEC Electronics, Toshiba, Renesas Technology, Fujitsu, Rohm and Seiko Epson, as well as four prominent Japanese universities, the Development Bank of Japan and NikkeiBP.

The aim of the award is to support the development of original and outstanding IP for systems-on-chips (SoCs), thus contributing to progress in the Japanese semiconductor industry.

'We're delighted that Elixent's efforts in reconfigurable technology, an area which we believe will be fundamentally important to the Japanese consumer electronics industry, have been recognised with this prestigious Japanese industry award', said Shigeki Yoshida, President and CEO of IPTC Corporation and General Manager, Engineering Planning Division, Semiconductor Company, Toshiba Corporation.

'We're pleased to give the 7th LSI IP Design Award to Elixent', said Shoji Tanaka, Chairman of LSI IP Design Award Managing Committee, Vice President, International Superconductivity Technology Centre and Director General, Superconductivity Research Laboratory.

'Elixent should be proud to be the first non-Japanese company to win the award'.

'This award endorses the importance of reconfigurable IP in the electronics market', said Kenn Lamb, CEO of Elixent.

'It is a very significant recognition of our technology from the major semiconductor manufacturers in the home of consumer electronics'.
