Distribution adds global
dimensions to MCU sales
Cyan Technology continues to build its strengths in world markets with the appointment of four new distributors in Europe and South Africa
Cyan is the UK fabless semiconductor company that developed the innovative eCOG1 ultra-low-power configurable 16bit RISC microcontroller. Together with the company's innovative and unique CyanIDE development and configuration software suite, the device is ideally suited to new generation communications applications.
Cyan's latest distribution agreements include Micro Puissance in France, Nijkerk for both Holland and Belgium, MB Silicon Systems in South Africa and Computer Controls covering Switzerland and several of the of Eastern Block countries.
Paul Barwick, Cyan's Director of Sales and Marketing, said: "Our eCOG1 microcontroller is attracting interest all over the world".
"These appointments represent important steps in building a chain of distribution partners that will help us to develop and support the potentially huge world market in applications areas like wireless CCTV, EPOS, asset tracking and low cost PDA".
The distributors have all been chosen for their ability to provide technical design support and their strengths in market sectors for which the Cyan microcontroller provides an advantageous solution.
Micro Puissance was founded in France in 1988.
After several years during which the company was primarily involved with military and industrial markets, it more recently changed its focus and continues to develop business in markets such as telecommunications, multimedia and portable or hand held devices - complete synergy with Cyan's target markets.
Micro Puissance is a serious partner for developers in the five key areas of power management, multimedia, wireless communication, telecommunications and displays.
The company has a team of 25 people, which includes 14 specialist technicians and engineers, dedicated to helping customers with new designs.
Nijkerk Electronics, founded in 1959, was one of the first distributors of electronic components in the Benelux.
The company is well known in the region for innovative component solutions from world class manufacturers including semiconductors, passive components and flat panel displays.
With this well balanced product portfolio, Nijkerk Electronics has acquired considerable expertise in key market segments such as communications, industrial controls, medical, video and imaging and point-of-sale.
The company employs approximately 25 people who work in close co-operation with manufacturers to advise customers about new product developments and to offer innovative solutions and discuss development roadmaps.
Nijkerk Electronics plays an important role in introducing new technologies into the market and is therefore an ideal partner for Cyan.
MB Silicon Systems is an independent technical distributor of electronic components and manufacturer representative, covering the whole of South Africa.
Established in January 1997 the company has expanded rapidly to capture a sizeable portion of the South African electronic components market.
The company serves professional equipment manufacturers and users of components throughout the country by supplying state-of-art components, particularly semiconductors, with an emphasis on quality and customer support.
MB Silicon Systems is an ISO9002 certified company.
This certification endorses its pledge and commitment to the quality of service provided to its customers.
Founded in 1971, Computer Controls is a well established Swiss distributor of electronic components and instruments for test and measurement encompassing products for development, production and service.
It offers high quality support over the full range of its products to make the development and manufacture of high quality and new technology products easier for its customers.
With a staff of 16, Computer Controls is one of the most important distributors for industrial electronics in Switzerland and all of its employees have long experience in the Swiss electronics market, especially in the semiconductor market.
The company's components division focuses on complex and high quality products which very often are support intensive.
Computer Controls enlarged its territory to Eastern Europe in 1994 by founding subsidiaries under the name HT-Eurep Electronic.
The total staff of 19 people are spread through offices located in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Croatia/Slovenia.
Combining knowledge of the specific markets and extensive experience in electronics, HT-Eurep is able to provide local quality support and technical assistance.
Furthermore, Computer Controls has established an efficient network of local partners through which it is able to serve Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia and Montenegro and the Baltic states.
