Beach Solutions has secured $4.5 million in new funding from MTI, one of the UK's leading high technology venture capital fund managers.

Beach Solutions has secured $4.5 million in new funding from MTI, one of the UK's leading high technology venture capital fund managers.

The funding is MTI's first investment in Beach Solutions.

The injection of cash from MTI will enable the company to accelerate its global expansion plans and make a significant investment in the sales and marketing of its solutions as well as maintain its technology leadership.

Having recently opened its European headquarters in Theale, near Reading, in the heart of the UK's Silicon Valley, Beach Solutions is actively pursuing the establishment of its US headquarters on the West Coast of the USA.

Commenting on the funding, Terry McCloskey, Chief Executive of Beach Solutions, said: "In this very challenging funding environment, MTI's investment is a resounding endorsement of our technology and how it solves customers' critical IP packaging, integration and re-use problems.

The funding will significantly accelerate our plans for bringing the technology to market".

Dr Paul Castle, Chief Executive of MTI, added: "Beach Solutions is a typical MTI investee company and we are very pleased to have them in our portfolio.

The company has market leading technology, which offers significant user benefits and is working in an exciting and fast growing sector.

We hope that this funding will allow Beach Solutions to realize its full potential".

Beach Solutions is pioneering the provision of innovative solutions and design tools for IP packaging, integration and re-use.

Its EASI-Gen product family comprises a range of modules for the automatic generation and support of low-level embedded application system interfaces (EASIs) for the development of SoC and reconfigurable system platforms.

The tools require no new language support, are simple to use, and fit neatly into existing design flows.

They automate many of the detailed and otherwise error-prone manual design tasks allowing engineers to concentrate on value added engineering and bringing products to market faster.

As the complexity of IP and SoCs continues to increase, more efficient ways are required to develop IP and associated methodologies for system integration.

Beach addresses these issues by providing automated solutions to package and deploy IP in a repeatable and reliable manner.

EASI tools ensure data consistency at the hardware and software interface.

Data is centralised in an XML database from which all documentation, hardware and software views are generated.

All project team members then work from a common reference to deliver highly maintainable views throughout all phases of the development.

"Our technology has been well-received in the market with Philips, Sony, Conexant, and Parthus featuring amongst the early adopters", concluded McCloskey.

We fully expect the new funding to help us forge further strategic relationships with other key industry players".
