Award for high-speed op amp
Analog Devices has won the EDN 2003 Innovation of the Year Award in the analogue ICs category with its high-speed operational amplifier, the AD8099
Recognising groundbreaking innovation in the electronics industry, this year's awards were announced at EDN's 14th Annual Innovator/Innovation of the Year Awards dinner at The W Hotel in San Francisco on 29th March 2004. Ushering in a new era for high-speed operational amplifiers, the AD8099 minimises two fundamental error sources in amplifier design - voltage noise and harmonic distortion - and is ideal for applications that require the highest degree of accuracy, such as radar-based collision avoidance systems, medical ultrasound signal processing, and precision instrumentation.
Editors from EDN, the premier design publication in the electronics industry, chose finalists from hundreds of candidates, and readers cast their votes to determine the winners.
Innovation awards were handed out in 16 different categories.
"We are honoured to receive this distinguished award from EDN", said Lew Counts, Analog Devices fellow and Vice President of Linear Products.
"However, the real winners are the system designers.
The AD8099 addresses their most important issue - maximising dynamic range at ever increasing speeds.
The combination of ultralow noise with low distortion, while maintaining high full-power bandwidth at low gains, enables a new level of system performance".
