An Electronicstalk guide
Start with the news release Gain blocks for cellular bands GSM, CDMA and UMTS from Avago Technologies, which we summarised at the time by saying "Avago Technologies has expanded its high-performance power amplifier range with the MGA-31589 and MGA-31689 0.5-watt gain blocks, suitable for cellular infrastructure applications.". Several months prior to that, we featured the news release PLDs for low-power consumer design applications from Avnet Memec: "Avnet Memec is offering Lattice Semiconductor's MachXO2T programmable logic devices (PLDs), which offer low-density PLD designers low cost, low power and high system integration in a single device.".
In December 2010, we covered the news from XP Power - take a look at AC/DC power supplies suit harsh environments which says: "XP Power has unveiled the ECC100 series 100W single-output, baseplate-cooled AC/DC power supplies targeted at outdoor applications such as wireless communications, lighting and information displays.".
Take a look also at the news release from Diodes Incorporated, CMOS logic devices suited for mobile phones, as well as Bridge chip range for USB/(HID)-USB connectivity from Silicon Laboratories, and Hall-sensor IC for low power HMI applications from Austriamicrosystems.
Chip filters optimise performance of mobile phones (December 2010)
Taiyo Yuden's latest lines of chip filters are designed to optimise the performance, while minimising the size, of mobile phones.
Tool safeguards low-voltage portable electronics (December 2010)
The LTC4362 is a 2.5 to 5.5V overvoltage and overcurrent protector that safeguards low-voltage, portable electronics from damaging input voltage transients and current surges.
RMS detector can be used in rugged environments (December 2010)
Linear Technology has launched the LTC5582, a high-dynamic-range 10GHz RMS detector designed for use on remote radio units or outdoor units deployed on cellular towers.
Microcontrollers designed for multi-applications (December 2010)
NXP Semiconductors has launched the SmartMX2, a range of secure microcontrollers designed for applications such as e-government, banking, pay TV, mobile transactions and public transport.
Fairchild offers USB-compliant switching chargers (November 2010)
Fairchild Semiconductor has developed the FAN5400 series of USB-compliant, Lithium-ion switching chargers with USB On-The-Go (USB-OTG) capabilities for smart phones, tablets and digital cameras.
Low-voltage ICs for mobile phone and GPS backlight (November 2010)
ZMD has introduced two new ZLED low-voltage ICs, incorporating low-noise, constant-frequency charge pump DC/DC converters that can drive up to four (ZLED7012) or six (ZLED7022) strings of LEDs.
Pulse unveils NFC stamp antenna for mobile phones (November 2010)
At Electronica 2010, Pulse will introduce its NFC (near field communication) stamp antenna for mobile phones and portable wireless devices.
MEMS microphones can be used in mobile phones (November 2010)
The WM7210 and the WM7220 MEMS microphones are ideal for applications such as mobile phones, PCs, portable media players, digital still cameras and navigation devices.
